Marvel's relaunch of the classic character Marvelman will be coming soon, according to the company's SVP of publishing, Tom Brevoort.

Marvel acquired the rights to the Marvelman series back in July 2009, but has yet to launch any new material featuring the character.

"It should come as no shock to you that Marvelman has been screwed up in terms of one issue or another legally for decades now," Brevoort explained to Comic Book Resources. "So while we have gone over most of it, we really want to make sure that we have every hatch battened down before we try to roll any of this stuff out. We're getting there.

"Things move slowly, particularly because we're trying to make sure everything is done right and above board and everyone involved is satisfied," he continued. "So have patience. We're getting to it. It is coming. We will get there.

"For now the news on Marvelman is: We're working on it!" he added.

Despite the lack of new Marvelman comics, the company has reprinted many of the character's classic adventures, including the Marvelman Classic Primer last summer, and the ongoing series Marvelman Family's Finest.
