Musical genius Elton John apparently has some kind of surprise in store for Australian news media who turn up tonight at Sydney's Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay.

Unfortunately Elton's voice has been a touch flat - a fact witnessed at Saturday's Night's Alright for Fighting and I'm Still Standing via the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

The living legend has been fighting off a cough and doctors have advised him not to perform for the foreseeable future (which may mean a few days or much more).

In another challenge for Mr John, his partner David Furnish is flying back to the US from Australia, having fallen ill.

The artist is fresh off two appearances at The Star (ex Star City Casino) The Lyric which was on the 26th and 27th October.

John, being the trooper he is and a believer in the old saying "The show must go on" is understood to be totally committed to appearing at Circular Quay tonight, and we're hearing rumours he will be on board a ship.

A big congrats to John and his team for their ongoing great work in their quest to find a cure to aids and other serious social challanges.

Readers, there you go. We will have another update for you later tonight as the story develops. Ships ahoy and fair winds.
